Heat Pump Systems

Heat pumps and renewable energy installations are quickly becoming a large part of the heating sector, now is the time to start considering switching to renewable energy.

How do heat pumps work?

Heat from the air or ground is absorbed at low temperature into a fluid. This fluid passes through a compressor, increasing the temperature, and transfers that higher temperature heat to the heating and hot water circuits of the house. Oakhill Plumbing and Heating hold qualifications in air to water and ground to water heat pumps and are more than happy to advise you on the best options for you. Retro fitting a heat pump to an existing property is achievable but depends on many factors including heat loss calculations, insulation and existing heating emitters such as radiators. To achieve the most from a heat pump an ideal installation example would be a new build project fully insulated to comply with current building regulations, with underfloor heating throughout. Heat pumps are designed to run for extended periods at a lower temperature, giving a comfortable ambient temperature throughout the dwelling and hugely reduced heating costs. There are many benefits to installing a heat pump to your property and you may even be eligible for a government grant to assist with installation costs. Where you may have a large area of land the installation of a ground source heat pump can also be an

option.
